This JAWS advice is geared towards Windows 11 or later users who are using the ArithmeType Math Keyboard. Other OS users may need to tailor this advice to their specific device.

1. There is one unspoken character, “horizontal line”, on the math keyboard that is not part of the JAWS built-in speech dictionary. This can be added to the speech dictionary per the software instructions.

2. A few characters are misspoken:

   1. a/b key says "space". The code is \frac   (with a space at the end) and should be changed to speak "frac" or "fraction" per your preference ​​

   2. The square root 2nd option EQ says "space". The code is \sqrt   (with a space at the end) and should be changed to speak "square root" 

3. Similarly, any unspoken characters on the calculus keyboard can be added to the dictionary.

4. If you experience an echo of speech output in documents or websites, go to Utilities-->Settings Center. Uncheck the box for “Key Repeat”. MathQuill based typing programs such as Desmos, DeltaMath, and ArithmeType math pages will still speak an echo. To turn this off, turn Typing Echo to "off". (Be sure to turn this echo back on when typing on documents and webpages however).
